Our role in early literacy instruction is to teach basic skills and to provide rich, meaningful, and engaging learning environments supported by appropriate teaching practices.

To best support a new student, a student is assessed, and individual reading lessons are tailored to meet the student’s current reading level.

We use a Structured Literacy program which includes systematic and explicit reading instruction. Direct and indirect instruction of phonics, word families, and long and short vowel sounds are utilized to augment the comprehensive reading instruction.

Instruction and assessment reflect the integration of listening, speaking, viewing, reading, and writing. English Language Arts instruction includes reading comprehension, reading strategies, literary analysis, sentence-composing skills, vocabulary, grammar, and punctuation practice.
